Redbourn

Home visit physiotherapy in Redbourn.

Home-based neurological and elderly rehabilitation in Redbourn and the villages along the western edge of the St Albans district.

Coverage

Where we visit in Redbourn.

Redbourn village, Flamstead, Markyate and the surrounding lanes between the A5183 and the M1.

Redbourn sits between St Albans, Harpenden and Hemel Hempstead without being properly part of any of them, which is a familiar frustration when arranging care. Services are often organised around whichever of the three towns a particular team happens to be based in.

Postcodes: AL3. There is no travel charge anywhere in our standard coverage area.

Local NHS services

Coming home from hospital in Redbourn.

Redbourn is in the St Albans district and is covered by West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, so outpatient care may be at St Albans City Hospital or Hemel Hempstead Hospital, whichever the clinic runs from.

Neither of those sites has an A&E. An emergency admission would have gone to Watford General, and the discharge home comes from there.

Because appointments can be sent to either St Albans or Hemel, families here often end up driving further than they expected for routine follow-up. Home visits sidestep that entirely.

Hospital and trust arrangements change. This describes the position as at August 2026 and is offered as general orientation, not as advice about your own care — your GP or hospital team can confirm what applies to you.

How we help

What we are usually called about.

We are a home-visit practice, so everything happens in your own front room, on your own stairs, with your own furniture. That is not a compromise on clinic-based treatment — for balance, walking and falls it is the more useful setting.

Questions we are asked about Redbourn.

Do you cover Flamstead and Markyate as well as Redbourn?

Yes, both are within our standard area. If you are further west towards Dunstable, call and check first.

Is there a travel charge for the villages?

No. There is no travel charge anywhere in our standard coverage area, and Redbourn is well inside it.

Our appointments keep being sent to different hospitals. Can you help make sense of it?

We can explain what we see and, with your consent, write to your GP or community team. We would not try to reorganise your NHS care — that is not our role — but a clear written assessment often helps the people who can.

Working with the NHS

Alongside, not instead of.

Using private physiotherapy does not remove your NHS entitlement and does not take you off an NHS waiting list. You keep your place.

With your consent we share our assessment and programme with your community team, GP or consultant, so they inherit a measured baseline rather than starting from a blank page.

When NHS input starts properly, most families reduce or stop. That is the intended outcome, and we will tell you when we think you have reached it.
