Park Street
Home visit physiotherapy in Park Street.
Home-visit neurological and elderly rehabilitation across Park Street, How Wood and the surrounding villages south-west of St Albans.
Coverage
Where we visit in Park Street.
Park Street, How Wood, Frogmore, Bricket Wood and Chiswell Green, and the streets around the Park Street and How Wood stations.
This is a cluster of small residential areas that sit between St Albans and Watford. Being close to both often means being firmly attached to neither, and families here regularly find their appointments split between the two.
Postcodes: AL2. There is no travel charge anywhere in our standard coverage area.
Local NHS services
Coming home from hospital in Park Street.
Park Street and the surrounding villages are covered by West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Being on the Watford side of the district, residents here are often seen at Watford General for both emergency and planned care, rather than at St Albans City Hospital.
Watford General is the trust's acute site, so discharge home from a ward there is the common route. The community rehabilitation that follows is arranged locally, and the wait for it is the gap most families run into.
Hospital and trust arrangements change. This describes the position as at August 2026 and is offered as general orientation, not as advice about your own care — your GP or hospital team can confirm what applies to you.
How we help
What we are usually called about.
- Stroke rehabilitation. Regaining movement, balance and walking after a stroke, at home in Park Street.
- Elderly rehabilitation and falls. Balance training, strength work and walking confidence for older adults.
- The gap after hospital discharge. Assessment and a programme in the weeks before NHS community physiotherapy begins.
We are a home-visit practice, so everything happens in your own front room, on your own stairs, with your own furniture. That is not a compromise on clinic-based treatment — for balance, walking and falls it is the more useful setting.
Questions we are asked about Park Street.
Do you cover Bricket Wood and How Wood?
Yes. Park Street, How Wood, Frogmore, Bricket Wood and Chiswell Green are all in our standard area, with no travel charge.
Dad was discharged from Watford General. Can you still help?
Yes. We come to the house wherever the hospital stay was. With your consent we will share our assessment with the community team so nothing has to be repeated.
Can you visit in the evening?
Our standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. If those do not work, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than promise something we cannot.
Working with the NHS
Alongside, not instead of.
Using private physiotherapy does not remove your NHS entitlement and does not take you off an NHS waiting list. You keep your place.
With your consent we share our assessment and programme with your community team, GP or consultant, so they inherit a measured baseline rather than starting from a blank page.
When NHS input starts properly, most families reduce or stop. That is the intended outcome, and we will tell you when we think you have reached it.
